Breitling and Erling Haaland: an out-of-this-world partnership

When Breitling announced its collaboration with Erling Haaland, it wasn’t just about bringing together a football star and a historic brand. The goal was to go further: to create pieces that combined the athlete’s character with watchmaking excellence. The result is a special edition of two Breitling Chronomat models that include an element as exceptional as it is authentic: fragments of the Muonionalusta meteorite on the dial.

Far from simply signing off on a design, Haaland has been involved from the outset. His energy, precision and uniqueness have served as inspiration for two watches that stand out as much for their mechanics as for their concept.

A unique material

The Muonionalusta meteorite fell in northern Sweden and was discovered over a century ago, although its origin dates back more than 4.5 billion years. Its interior hides a metallic pattern called Widmanstätten, which is impossible to replicate. Each sphere carved from this material is different. No two pieces are alike.

For Haaland, this uniqueness has special value. In his own words, what attracted him most was knowing that ‘each sphere is different,’ something that fits with his idea of what a watch should be: personal, unrepeatable and with character.

Two models, two ways of understanding luxury

The collection consists of two limited editions of the Chronomat: one more discreet and versatile, and the other clearly geared towards collectors and distinction.

The Chronomat Automatic GMT 40 features a 40 mm stainless steel case with a platinum bezel. Its automatic calibre includes a GMT function with a red gold hand for a second time zone. It is COSC-certified and has a sapphire crystal case back engraved with Haaland’s silhouette, the legend ‘ONE OF 500’ and the number 9. The initials ‘EH’ decorate the second hand. It is available with a metal bracelet or rubber strap.

The Chronomat B01 42 Erling Haaland, meanwhile, features 18-carat red gold in a 42 mm case. It houses the Breitling 01 calibre with integrated chronograph, 70-hour power reserve and official certification. Its meteorite dial includes three contrasting chronograph subdials for accurate reading. Only 250 units have been produced, all numbered and engraved with the player’s profile. Available with a matching bracelet or sports strap.

Both models share the solid architecture of the Chronomat collection, water resistance to 200 metres, protected crown and pushers, and a high-grip rotating bezel.

This collaboration is a true statement of intent. Breitling has created a collection that combines technology, design and an authentic narrative.

There are only 750 units available: 500 of the GMT model and 250 of the chronograph. Each one represents a link between the earth and the cosmos, between the force of a meteorite and the precision of Swiss haute horlogerie.
