Longines PrimaLuna 2025: a complete redesign of an essential collection

Longines launches a new phase for its PrimaLuna collection, completely redesigned both aesthetically and technically.

The collection recovers key elements from its origins and adapts them with a contemporary execution, without renouncing the style that has defined the brand for decades.

The evolution of a key collection at Longines

PrimaLuna was created as a tribute to the moon and its symbolism. This new version maintains that reference and develops it with a more elaborate aesthetic. The 34 mm case features curved shapes that capture the light. The rounded crown, engraved with crescent moons, reinforces the connection with the lunar phase that is the star of the collection.

The models are available in stainless steel, two-tone versions with 5N rose gold or 2N yellow gold, and other references with gemstone settings. The variety of materials and finishes maintains the visual coherence of the collection. All options feature refined proportions and combine clean dials with well-integrated details.

One of the most representative launches is the L8.126.0.97.2 model, with a sky blue mother-of-pearl dial decorated with 14 Top Wesselton diamonds and a bezel set with 48 sapphires in different shades and sizes. The visual gradient of the bezel evokes the transitions of the sky at dusk. The pearl blue leather strap, anti-reflective treatment and transparent case back complete a piece that is presented as a work of fine feminine watchmaking.

Technical characteristics

The collection features the exclusive Longines L899.5 automatic calibre with a silicon balance spring. This component improves precision and protects the movement from disturbances caused by magnetic fields or temperature variations. The calibre has 21 jewels, a frequency of 25,200 vibrations per hour and a power reserve of up to 72 hours.

All models include hour, minute and second functions, along with a moon phase complication combined with a date display at 6 o’clock. This is the first time this function has been featured in the PrimaLuna collection with an automatic calibre.

The 34 mm case is 11.6 mm thick and water resistant to 3 bar (30 metres). It is fitted with sapphire crystal treated with anti-reflective coatings on both sides, ensuring the dial is visible in all conditions. In the Blue Sapphire model, the 48 sapphires on the bezel are divided into four groups differentiated by size and colour, totalling 1.06 carats.

The dials vary depending on the reference. Some feature a silver finish with Roman numerals painted in blue or black, while others opt for white mother-of-pearl or the aforementioned sky blue, in all cases with diamond indices or details. The hands are available in rhodium, blue, gold or rose gold finishes, depending on the version.

Design of straps and bracelets

Longines has also adjusted the design of the metal bracelets, which now feature shorter, crescent-shaped links to improve integration with the case. Models with alligator leather straps are available in colours such as blue, red or burgundy, with a triple folding safety clasp and push-button opening mechanism. This variety caters to different uses without compromising the overall aesthetics of the collection.

Jennifer Lawrence, face of the collection

Actress Jennifer Lawrence, Longines ambassador since 2022, stars in the new PrimaLuna campaign. In it, she appears alone in an empty opera house, in a silent setting, far from the crowd. The scene creates a poetic atmosphere, in which the protagonist connects with her personal spaces and experiences with meaning.

The campaign presents the watch as an object linked to private moments, in which time becomes more intimate. In this visual narrative, the PrimaLuna appears as part of that context, accompanied by the actress’s natural elegance.
