The new Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch Professional models

The Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch Professional collection has one of the most recognisable watches in history, a chronograph that transcended the world of watchmaking to take its place in the collective imagination thanks to its link with space exploration and an easily identifiable aesthetic.

Until recently, the collection occupied very familiar ground. The classic configuration with a black dial predominated, with different variants depending on the crystal and the details. More recently, proposals such as the white dial within the main line were introduced, a notable development because that colour had historically been reserved for special editions.

Omega now presents two new versions that modernise the Moonwatch with a take on the black/white contrast, without abandoning the model’s essential codes.

Available materials and references

The new proposal comes in two materials:

Stainless steel (ref. 310.30.42.50.01.004): It combines brushed and polished finishes to gain presence without losing versatility. This version has a total weight of 142 grams, offering a perfect balance between solidity and comfort on the wrist.

18K Moonshine™ Gold (ref. 310.60.42.50.01.002): a more exclusive interpretation, crafted in an Omega proprietary alloy with a softer yellow tone and designed to retain its colour better over time.

The result is a Moonwatch with more weight and presence on the wrist, maintaining the same Black & White language. This version has a total weight of 224 grams, reinforcing its distinctive and sophisticated character.

Features of the new “Black & White” Moonwatch

The new references go for a high-impact composition, a black main dial with white subdials.

Omega does not just invert colours, the result is more graphic, more current and, above all, very photogenic, with a different personality compared with the black Moonwatch.

One of the most notable changes is in the construction and finish of the dial. Omega has sought a deep, lacquered black with a glossy effect.

This type of finish plays with light very differently from matte or slightly grained dials, the watch changes expression depending on the angle, and the contrast with the white subdials becomes even more forceful.

These editions opt for sapphire on the front and, in addition, incorporate a sapphire case back to show the movement.

Where aluminium held sway in many traditional configurations, here Omega uses a ceramic bezel with the tachymeter scale in white. This not only improves scratch resistance, it also emphasises the monochrome look.

Inside we find the calibre 3861, manually wound and certified as a Master Chronometer (METAS), the movement that underpins the modern era of the Moonwatch. These new versions maintain that mechanical base, with 50 hours of power reserve.

In short, the result is a watch true to its legacy, but more modern in execution, materials and presence.
