On the anniversary of the first moon landing in history, Buzz Aldrin has shared with OMEGA a reflection on the hours and clock that made history on July 21, 1969.
The astronaut was the pilot of the Apollo 11 lunar module when it landed in the Sea of Tranquility exactly 53 years ago. His first steps were a remarkable achievement for humanity and also for the OMEGA Speedmaster Professional that he wore on his wrist and which, at the time, became the first watch used on the Moon.
In addition to recalling images from that famous day, OMEGA has also produced a new portrait of Buzz Aldrin with the Speedmaster 321 (Ref. 3126.96.36.199.01.001), which houses the legendary driving caliber of all Speedmasters carried on the Moon. . From Apollo 11 to Apollo 17, astronauts trusted the .321 caliber for its accuracy and reliability.
The Apollo 11 mission remains the most extraordinary moment in OMEGA’s long heritage in space. It is an honor today to commemorate that history and celebrate the inspiring achievements of Buzz Aldrin himself.
