Seamaster Planet Ocean 600M Worldtimer: functional precision with a global vision

Last March, OMEGA expanded its Seamaster Planet Ocean 600M collection with a new version equipped with a Worldtimer function. With a clearly technical focus and state-of-the-art materials, this 45.5 mm model is designed for those who require multiple time readings without sacrificing the performance of a professional diving watch.

The case is made of brushed black ceramic, with a matching unidirectional rotating ceramic bezel. The laser-cut diving scale is polished in relief, ensuring good visibility and wear resistance. With a water resistance of up to 600 metres (60 bar), the model features a screw-down crown, helium escape valve and transparent case back. The key dimensions — 45.5 mm diameter, 17.4 mm thickness and 51.5 mm lug-to-lug length — place this watch in the large-format technical watch segment. The crystal is convex sapphire, treated with anti-reflective coating on both sides and scratch-resistant.

The most distinctive feature of the model is located at the centre of the dial. OMEGA has created a cartographic representation of the northern hemisphere as seen from the North Pole, on a grade 5 titanium base. The topographic map has been laser-cut and finished with turquoise varnish. Surrounding this representation is a 24-hour scale with day/night division, made from transparent hesalite. The outer ring of the dial, finished in black with DLC coating, features a laser-engraved honeycomb pattern, applied indices with white Super-LumiNova, and a perimeter ring also with turquoise lacquer.

The outer zone indicates 24 cities corresponding to different time zones, including Bienne, the brand’s city of origin. The hands, with grey PDV treatment and white Super-LumiNova filling, ensure accurate reading in low visibility conditions.

Inside, the model is fitted with the OMEGA calibre 8938, an automatic movement with a Co-Axial escapement, certified as a Master Chronometer by METAS. It offers anti-magnetic resistance up to 15,000 gauss, bidirectional winding, a silicon balance spring and a power reserve of 60 hours. In addition to the time and date, the calibre incorporates a GMT function with adjustable time zone and world time display.

The bracelet, integrated into the case, is made of textured black rubber with turquoise stitching to match the details on the dial. The folding clasp combines ceramic and ceramic-coated titanium, in line with the materials used in the rest of the piece.

In terms of materials, OMEGA uses high-density ceramic for the case, chosen for its scratch resistance, low density and chemical stability. Grade 5 titanium, used in both structural and decorative elements, offers a high strength-to-weight ratio and good workability with polished or brushed finishes. The sapphire crystal, with a hardness of 9 on the Mohs scale, guarantees a clear and durable view.
