Longines Spirit

The Spirit collection by Longines is a continuation of the tradition of aviation-inspired watchmaking. This line of timepieces pays tribute to the pioneers of aviation, legendary figures who relied on Longines’ precision for their exploits. Launched in 2020, the Spirit collection embodies the essence of the pioneering spirit, combining classic design with state-of-the-art technology.

It emphasises its focus on legibility and functionality, essential characteristics for an aviation-inspired watch. The dials are available in sober colours such as matt black, satin-brushed blue and anthracite, all decorated with fine graining that enhances their visual depth. The applied Arabic numerals and hands, both coated with Super-LumiNova®, ensure excellent visibility in all light conditions.

The stainless steel case comes in 40 mm and 42 mm diameters, sizes that perfectly balance presence on the wrist with comfort. For enthusiasts looking for extra strength, the collection also includes versions with ceramic or gold-toned PVD-coated bezels, adding a touch of understated luxury. Sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on both sides and a screw-down case back reinforce durability and water resistance to 100 metres (10 bar).

In terms of their mechanics, the watches in the Spirit collection are equipped with automatic movements certified as chronometers by the COSC (Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres), a quality seal guaranteeing exceptional precision. The L888.4 and L688.4 calibres used in this collection are equipped with a silicon hairspring, an advanced material offering greater resistance to magnetic fields and long-term stability. These movements provide a power reserve of 64 hours, ensuring that the watch maintains its precision even over the longest of days.

The Spirit collection also includes models with complications such as the date, which is displayed in a window at 3 o’clock, and a bicompax chronograph, which adds additional functionality without compromising the legibility or balanced design of the watch. These technical elements, combined with the design inspired by historic pilot’s watches, create a line that is both contemporary and deeply respectful of tradition.
